Opening a new account

Start by working out what you want to achieve, how much you want to borrow and how long you want to borrow it for. Feel free to ask us, or your AMC Agent, for quotation examples and guidance regarding the most appropriate and cost-effective loans to buy farm land, for example, or for any business loan purpose you have in mind.

The application process
Once you have a proposal in mind, you will need to complete our application form. If you prefer, we can do this for you – it is part of the no-obligation service we offer. Your nearest AMC Agent or Regional Agricultural Manager will visit you to deal with the paperwork.

You will also need to provide supporting documentation (such as your last three years' business accounts and planning permission, budgets etc.) with your application.

The offer
If your proposal is acceptable, we will send you our formal offer. We recommend that if you haven't done so already, you seek independent financial and legal advice regarding the mortgage you have been offered.

The valuation
Once you have accepted our offer, we will value the property you are using as security, and arrange, through your solicitors, to place a legal charge against it.

The funds
Finally, your loan funds will be made available, either for drawing as required with a Flexible Facility, in one lump sum or tranches for an AMC mortgage.
